The Importance of Quality Cabling
August 24, 2010
You probably know who to call when you need to signup for phone, internet or data service, but do you know where to go for cabling? Especially if you are running your own business, it’s important to make certain your facility has the proper wiring it needs to create a lightening fast, reliable network. Many times you will need to hire an outside company to come in and achieve this.
When I first took my office space a couple of years ago, I was flabbergasted by the sorry state of the wiring; the internet was sluggish and calls were constantly being dropped, which isn’t the way to grow a fledgling business. I immediately called for some Seattle cabling services to have the situation remedied. Now all of our services our fast, reliable and we are able to give our customers the care and support they need and deserve.
Does Your Business Need Structured Cabling?
August 10, 2010
Despite the fact that virtually every business professional now has a PDA or smartphone, having structured cabling for your business may not seem like a top priority. But just because your employees can do business from their mobile device doesn’t mean they should. It’s no secret that mobile date service is unreliable, and do you want your business at the mercy of the mobile providers.
Reading documents, sending emails and composing documents is inefficient on mobile devices, too. Having a reliable structured network in your office ensures that your clients and employees can have instant, reliable access to one another. It will also facilitate communication between employees and encourage them to conduct business in the office, where they will likely be more productive.
What is Cat6 Cabling?
May 26, 2010
When it comes to cabling for data and communication, the wiring is referred to by its category. Each subsequent category improves upon the last, and most cables are backward compatible, meaning that they can still be used in conjunction with older models. The most state-of-the-art option on the market today is Cat6 cabling, which is the successor to Cat 5/5E cabling.
Cat6 cabling is created using stricter standards for system noise and MHz capacity. The most common use for Cat6 cabling is Ethernet, although it can be used for other protocols and cabling purposes. Like most cables, Cat6 is composed of four wires. What sets it apart for previous models is its superior insulation, which has a drastic effect on the overall performance.
Fiber Optics Founder Awarded Nobel Prize
October 14, 2009
Last week the Nobel Committee handed out a variety of their coveted Nobel Prizes, including one in physics. This year the prize and money was split between three scientists who made amazing discoveries in the 1960s that paved the way for the telecommunications infrastructure we have today. One of the scientists was , who was a pioneer in the field of fiber optic cabling.
Kao worked on the design for wires that were composed of glass fibers, allowing information to travel quicker and more efficiently. Although we may not realize it, fiber optics is all around us and plays a huge role in the technology we use in our daily lives. There is enough fiber optic cable on Earth to wrap around the planet 25,000 times.
Cable Services Expanded
July 10, 2009
We have decided to add to our services the FLUKE Cable Analyzer. This equipment is certified to analyze Cat5 and Cat6 cable networks.
The hardware will read the efficiency of the cable network and diagnose any errors and weakness’ along with the ability to guarantee the cable network is operating according to manufacturers specifications and requirements.
